Modeled longitudinal recovery trajectories using generalized mixed-effects models, paired t-tests, and Wilcoxon signed-rank tests.
Physical recovery was prolonged in metabolic syndrome, with PCS improving from 42.3 ± 8.9 at 3 months to 66.8 ± 11.4 at 24 months, whereas patients without metabolic syndrome plateaued at 12 months (improving from 47.5 ± 11.3 to 67.9 ± 7.9).
Spine-specific functional scores plateaued later in patients with metabolic syndrome (12 months) compared to those without metabolic syndrome (6 months) on the NASS scale.
Mental health scores improved until 12 months and then plateaued in both cohorts, reaching 63.9 ± 13.5 in patients with metabolic syndrome versus 65.3 ± 12.4 in those without.
