Eleven patients with malignant ovarian tumors were treated with cisplatin. Antitumor effects and adverse reactions were evaluated in accordance with the Koyama-Saito criteria. An overall response rate of therapy where patients receiving cisplatin either as a single agent or in combination with other drugs was 54.5% (6/11). Statistically significant difference in response rate was not observed between primary and recurrent tumors, nor was it seen between incomplete excision and exploratory laparotomy. Side effects most frequently observed were of gastrointestinal origin and mild. Adequate hydration and diuresis helped reduce renal toxicity.
