These symptoms are often attributed to anxiety, medication effects, or functional disorders. Autonomic disorders typically produce subtle physiological instability—such as orthostatic intolerance or impaired cardiovascular reflexes—rather than overt neurological deficits. Etiologies range from reversible systemic conditions to neurological diseases and rare autonomic neuropathies. Although advances in autonomic testing have improved diagnostic capability, appropriate test selection requires sound clinical reasoning.Discussion and conclusion: In busy outpatient settings, the absence of a structured approach can lead to unnecessary testing or premature diagnosis before all relevant information is considered.
