Archaeological monitoring uncovers no features in an area of potential near a medieval village.
In May 2014 Archaeological Solutions Ltd (AS) carried out archaeological monitoring and recording at 25 South Street, Hockwold cum Wilton, Norfolk IP26 4JG (NGR TL 732 880). The monitoring was undertaken in compliance with a planning condition attached to planning permission for the construction of a stable (King's Lynn and West Norfolk Council Ref. 14/00152/F). The site lies within an area of archaeological potential, immediately adjacent to earthworks marking the extent of the former medieval village (the village having shrunk from its previous extent). The monitoring revealed no archaeological features or finds.
