Archaeological monitoring uncovers historical elements during groundworks for development at Firs Farm, highlighting preservation efforts.
Archaeological monitoring and recording was carried out during the groundworks for a new solarium and barn conversion at Firs Farm, Deans Green, Ullenhall, Warwickshire. Firs Farm lies adjacent to the Hob Ditch causeway, an Iron Age earthwork Scheduled as an Ancient Monument. The work was carried out in accordance with the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists' Standard and guidance for an archaeological monitoring and recording (2023). Nothing relating to the Scheduled Monument's significance was impacted by the development. An L-shaped brick footing observed in the solarium area was made of unfrogged bricks, and a modern rubbish pit was observed in the barn area.
