Interviews with first authors highlight research on osmotic stress tolerance in tetraploid C. elegans embryos, indicating significant findings in cell science.
First Person is a series of interviews with the first authors of a selection of papers published in Journal of Cell Science, helping researchers promote themselves alongside their papers. Yuiko Oyama is first author on ‘ Tetraploid Caenorhabditis elegans embryos exhibit enhanced tolerance to osmotic stress’, published in JCS. Yuiko conducted the research described in this article while an undergraduate student in Yuki Hara's lab at Faculty of Science, Yamaguchi University, Japan, working on molecular mechanisms that control organelle function during polyploidization in C. elegans. She now works at IZUMI Co., Hiroshima City, Japan.
