Longitudinal cohort study tracks alumni impact on community and society after graduation, informing program improvements.
This report is the second in a series of annual research reports of The Imprint of Education study - a Longitudinal Cohort Study of African Alumni of the Mastercard Foundation, conducted by the Human Sciences Research Council as a learning partner of the Mastercard Foundation and its institutional partners. Organised into five components, referred to as learning activities, the study follows Alumni from selected years of the Foundation's Scholars Program for a period of five years across seven study sites (Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa, Uganda and what we have termed "the Diaspora" those Scholars who studied outside of the African continent) with the aim of understanding their trajectories post-graduation as well as the impact they are having on their families, communities, organisations and societies in which they find themselves. It is envisaged that learnings from this study will enable improvements and adjustments to the Scholars Program by the Foundation and its partners, but will also contribute to improving the experiences of young African, often first generation, graduates both during their studies and after graduation.
