Excavations uncover Bronze Age and Iron Age settlement features in Dunmow Road, suggesting historical activity in the region.
Excavations undertaken near Dunmow Road on the east side of Bishop's Stortford revealed settlement features of the later Bronze Age andIron Age, including ditches, pits, four-post structures and a cremation. Assemblages of pottery, animal bone, struck flint and charred plant remains were recorvers. Although small, the site adds to a growing picture of 1st millennium BC activity around Bishop's Stortford, which also includes the excavations at Thorley.
