More and more grandparents are having to raise their grandchildren. Many times these grandparents are finding that they must seek custody of their grandchildren in order to be able to make decisions that are required of one who is raising children. This paper looks at some of the issues involved when grandparents seek the help of the court on behalf of their grandchildren. This paper identifies some of the services available to grandparents through social services, and also looks at some of the implications related to education, policies, and programs.
