The model is still used extensively in commercial banks, however, most financial institutions are facing some key competitive pressures. The article outlines these areas of challenges in sketching a personalized stroke in the banking and finance industry. Key issues identified in this arena pertain to situation where customers are no longer tied to a physical location, and services offered by financial institutions have largely become commodities. Banks have started delivering products and services through low-cost channels. This ambience demands a retrospect, and the alternative strategy is to recapture the personalized service to customers. The key lies in understanding the customer and implies organizing and building personalized customer interactions, to personalize the entire experience.
