This research aimed at examining the multi-mediated effects of emotional awareness clarity and ambivalence over emotional expressiveness in the effects of attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance on romantic relationship satisfaction. The subjects of this research were 335 unmarried men and women who were involved in a romantic relationship. In this study, correlation analysis was conducted using SPSS 25.0, and SPSS Process Macro was used to examine the multi-mediated effect, bootstrapping was also performed. First, attachment anxiety, attachment avoidance, emotional awareness clarity, ambivalence over emotional expressiveness and romantic relationship satisfaction were significantly correlated. Secondly, emotional awareness clarity partially mediated the effects of attachment anxiety on romantic relationship satisfaction, whereas it fully mediated the effects of attachment avoidance on romantic relationship satisfaction. In contrast, ambivalence over emotional expressiveness did not mediate the effects of both attachment avoidance and attachment anxiety on romantic relationship satisfaction. In addition, the multi-mediated effect was not significant in the path of emotional awareness clarity toward ambivalence over emotional expressiveness. This research is meaningful in that it examines whether attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance affect the romantic relationship satisfaction via the differentiated path of emotional awareness clarity and ambivalence over emotional expressiveness.
