Two Decades of Research on Luxury Hotels: A Review and Research Agenda

The purpose of this study was to execute a review of 65 journal articles published between 1994 and 2013 that pertain to luxury hotels. The articles were sorted by research theme, country of origin, methodology, year of publication, and publishing journal. Among the nine research themes, marketing, human resources, and technology were examined most frequently. The majority of the studies utilized quantitative rather than qualitative approaches, and employed a diversity of statistical analysis techniques. The present study is a pioneer in assessing studies on luxury hotels as well as identifying future research opportunities.
