More adequate and integrative solutions to phobias need to be discovered. Approximately 25 to 50 percent of phobic clients drop out of psychological treatment, and less than thirty percent recover with the help of psychotherapy. Drop-out and recovery rates are related to clients' stages of change at the beginning of therapy. Greater therapeutic effectiveness with phobic and other clients can be achieved by matching interventions to each client's stage and level of change.
