Mechanisms of Reduction of Eu(III) Ions in Aluminoborosilicate Glass

The relationship between optical properties, optical basicity, and reduction of Eu(III) ions in aluminoborosilicate glasses was studied. It was shown that Eu(II) ions are formed by high-temperature synthesis of glasses in air. It was found that optical basicity is not a key factor determining the mechanism of europium reduction in the glasses studied.
