Case study reveals socio-cultural influences on women's engagement in China's early geology, highlighting their contributions.
During the introduction and dissemination of modern geology in China, little attention has been paid by academia to the role of female scholars in the nation's geological endeavors. In the early days of China's geological development, women who entered this professional field faced greater efforts and sacrifices.Through a case study analysis and group statistical analysis of women geologists who continued to work in geology after graduating from university in the first half of the 20th century in China, this paper explores the reasons behind their engagement in geology, examines the socio-cultural contexts and personal growth experiences that shaped their careers, and highlights the contributions of women to the early development of modern geology in China.
