Study simulates hydrogen production from solar energy in Morocco, highlighting regional climatic influences.
This article presents a digital model used to simulate a hydrogen production system powered by photovoltaic energy. The behavior of the system is analyzed over a 24 hour period under different climatic conditions. contexts, Standard photovoltaic modelling techniques are used to evaluate the power produced by the solar field taking into account changes in irradiance and the effect of temperature on the modules' electrical performance. The electrical power produced by the photovoltaic field is modelled based on solar irradiance and cell temperature, this calculated power is then corrected for converter efficiency to estimate the power actually available at the electrolyser input, hydrogen production is then determined based on the available electrical power, using Faraday's law and the Faradaic efficiency of the electrolyzer. Hourly production is accumulated over the entire simulated period to obtain total daily production. The results proposes the cumulative hydrogen production for each area studied, as well as the hourly evolution of electrical power. The comparative analysis highlights the significant influence of regional climatic conditions on the system's performance, particularly with regard to the availability of electrical energy consequently, the potential for hydrogen production. This approach, which is both simple and consistent, allows an effective estimation of the daily green hydrogen production from solar energy in different geographical areas.
