Mixed-methods analysis examines AI tool effects on programming efficiency in IT students, suggesting supportive use for better outcomes.
This study examines the impact of AI tools on learning effectiveness within the programming environment for students at Astana IT University. The study focuses on tools such as ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, and Cursor Cloud, which help students complete programming tasks faster but may not always improve deep understanding. A mixed-methods approach was used, including an online survey through Google Forms and student interviews. The results show that AI tools improve task completion speed, help identify coding errors, and reduce stress. However, excessive use of AI may reduce students’ independence in problem-solving. Therefore, AI should be used as a supporting tool rather than a substitute for human thinking.
