Examines the degradation of methylene blue dye using Cr-doped ZnS nanoparticles, indicating effective photocatalysis under UV light.
ZnS nanoparticles doped with chromium were created by the chemical precipitation technique. XRD, SEM, EDX and UV-visible spectroscopy methods were used to characterize the as-synthesised pure and Cr-ZnS composite. Under UV light, the kinetics of photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB) dye catalyzed by synthetic nanoparticles was examined. After five hours of the procedure, the dye was degraded to 78% under UV light using Cr-ZnS as photocatalyst. The red-shift of the Cr-doped ZnS photocatalyst's absorption edge, which allows it to capture more photons in UV light, is responsible for the higher photocatalytic degradation of dye under UV radiation.
