All socio-political unrest usually entails fear, violence, and uncertainty. The American War of Independence was no exception. The ideas of independence seriously split the society of the British North American colonies into two hostile camps: patriots and loyalists. The process of revolutionary ferment allowed the colonists to recall old grievances that resulted in a real civil war. The article aims to present a comprehensive analysis of the terror of the patriots towards supporters of the union with the mother country. In addition, the study demonstrates an analysis of the loyalists response to the hostile steps of the patriots, which were no less violent.
