Modern-Era Messenger, Prophet, Mahdi, and Divine-Manifestation Claims before 1988 This article applies a Qur’an-only threshold screening framework to selected modern-era claimants and claim-associated movements before 1988. The cases include claims or attributions involving prophethood, Mahdi status, divine manifestation, messenger status, new scripture-like authority, new dispensation, or person-centered religious authority. Purpose The purpose of the article is not to provide full biographies of each claimant. Instead, it presents a concise table-based screening method. The governing principle is that once a claimant fails an essential Qur’an-only threshold criterion, the claim collapses at that step and does not require later validation by social influence, number of followers, institutional survival, political impact, or later community memory. Method The article applies threshold criteria developed in the Qur’an Study framework article on messenger, message, and durable publication. Each row identifies the claimant or movement, period and region, reported claim, earliest collapse step, and Qur’an-only assessment. The collapse points include post-Qur’anic prophethood, divine embodiment, reincarnation or return of Muhammad, new scripture-like authority, new religious dispensation, third-party Mahdi attribution, absence of claimant-authored durable publication, and absence of a specific Qur’an-based clarification, correction, warning, restoration, rendering, or understanding. Scope The article focuses on selected modern-era cases before 1988. It includes Seydina Mouhammadou Limamou Laye, Noble Drew Ali, Wallace Fard Muhammad, Elijah Muhammad, Dr. Dahesh, Muhammad Abdullah al-Qahtani, and Riaz Ahmed Gohar Shahi as a pre-1988 screening-window edge case. The article does not frame the chronology around any single claimant. It is a neutral threshold-screening table for modern-era claims before 1988. Core Finding Under this framework, social influence, sincerity, moral teaching, community formation, or historical importance does not cure a threshold failure. If the claim involves post-Qur’anic prophethood, divine embodiment, new scripture-like authority, person-centered theology, third-party Mahdi proclamation, or no specific Qur’anic message preserved in durable claimant-authored form, the claim fails at that threshold.
