In Brief Dementia is a common and debilitating disease that will increase dramatically for the next 50 years unless a prevention or treatment is identified. This review summarizes the evidence that physical activity is associated with a reduced risk of dementia in older adults and recommends that prevention trials be performed to determine whether this association is causal. Although there is evidence that physical activity may lower dementia risk, prevention trials are recommended.
