Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) remains an aggressive disease with high mortality. Recent advancements have transformed treatment for both limited-stage and extensive-stage SCLC (ES-SCLC). The phase III ADRIATIC trial established immunotherapy as part of first-line treatment for LS-SCLC. There is growing research supporting twice-daily thoracic radiation therapy to enhance survival, and ongoing trials are assessing advanced MRI as an alternative to prophylactic cranial irradiation. Emerging therapies, such as antibody-drug conjugates and chimeric antigen receptor-T cell therapy, show promise for the treatment of relapsed ES-SCLC. Together, these innovations are reshaping SCLC treatment and improving outcomes.
