The data reduction and source counts of a deep far-IR survey are presented along with an analysis of the survey's quality and limitations. The data are from observations of a 4-6 square degree field at the north ecliptic pole made by IRAS. Full-intensity and point-source filtered maps are constructed which reveal extended emission at both 60 and 100 microns. Point-source selection and combination of detections at different wavelengths are discussed, and contamination from moving or spurious sources and from low color temperature extended emission or 'cirrus' are addressed. The sensitivity of the survey is determined. The source counts at 12 and 60 microns are presented, and confusion is discussed.
