Abstract

In their latest Series, The Lancet Regional Health – Europe provides a comprehensive overview of the public health challenges, policy readiness, diagnostic innovations, and care models related to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), alcohol-related liver disease (ALD), and viral hepatitis in Europe.1–4 Noting the public health burden of these preventable, chronic liver diseases, we find it timely to highlight the risk factors for MASLD and opportunities for prevention.
