Examines spin-dependent elastic scattering outcomes in proton-deuteron reactions, suggesting new testing methodologies.
Spin-dependent Glauber theory can be used to test spin amplitudes of the pp and pn elastic scattering by means of comparison of calculations of spin observables of the $$pd$$ elastic scattering with the corresponding measurements. Spin observables of the pd elastic scattering Ayᵖ , Ayᵈ , A_yy , C_y,y , C_yy,y in the forward hemisphere can be obtained at the NICA energies from the corresponding observables of the reaction dd → npd , when measured at the conditions of the applicability of the impulse approximation. It is shown here by Monte-Carlo simulations that such measurements of the reaction dd → npd are possible at the first stage of the SPD project at c.m.s. energies √ s_dd = 8- 16 GeV and corresponding four momenta transfer squared | t | from 0.2–0.9 (GeV/c)2 up to ~ \,1.5- 2 (GeV/c)2.
