This research demonstrates the synthesis of a unique porphycene variant, showing promising complexation with B(III) ions.
We have designed and synthesized 2,7,12,17‐tetra( p ‐ tert ‐butylphenyl)dinaphthoporphycene. It is the first aryl analogue of β,β' ‐fused porphycene. The freebase porphycene exhibited a red shift in absorption spectra. The macrocycle possesses more elongated core compared to its alkyl analogues. Our complexation studies so far succeeded with B(III)‐ion, which led to the formation of a cisoid ‐B 2 OF 2 complex.
