• A new approach for the immobilization of chloride salts from MSRs is presented. • The highly soluble chloride salts were converted to durable and stable forms. • The measured leaching behavior of the ceramic samples has shown desired durability results. • The converted multi-phase chloride sample exhibited congruent leaching behavior across all the constituent elements, including for alkali and the lanthanide series.
