Storm episodes often cause extensive beach erosion that has severe economic impacts in most Caribbean Small Islands (CSIs). To better understand beach erosion hazard and manage its impacts, research has been directed at utilizing existing coastal data, geographic information systems (GIS), and other technologies to develop a prototype beach analysis and management system (BAMS) for CSIs. This article presents the results of phase II of the research effort, which includes the development of tools for predicting episodic beach erosion and potential for erosion damage. The Southeast Peninsula, St. Kitts, is used as a case study to develop these tools and demonstrate system functionality.
