This paper deals with controlling the active and reactive power for Wind Energy Conversion System (WECS) based on a doubly fed induction machine (DFIM) connected to the electrical power grid. The Type -2 Fuzzy Logic Control method (T-2FLC) is proposed to control the WEC system. In order to demonstrate its tracking performances, this technique is compared with the classical PI Control method. Several tests are performed in Matlab/Simulink software to show the performance criteria of each controller for tracking the desired references of power under unfavorable changes of the parameters of the control system. Thus, the simulation results show perfectly the robustness and accuracy of the proposed control approach T-2FLC of tracking the active and reactive power. Also, the simulations illustrate the weakness of the PI classic for tracking the desired power under difficult variations of the system parameters.
