This article discusses the dynamic assessment of information processing ability, by detailing the development, standardization, and preliminary validation of the Cognitive Processing Test (S-CPT). Intended for use for age 5 to adult, the S-CPT was constructed to include measures of processing ability under static and testing-the-limit conditions. The S-CPT is an individually administered instrument standardized on a large group (N = 1,600) of students across the U.S. and Canada. Information pertaining to the development and standardization of the instrument and the evaluation of the psychometric properties is presented. The problems and advantages of the measures are discussed.
