It is necessary to modify the established vector control theory, because there is the phase asymmetry (static end effect) in the linear induction motor (LIM). The finite element approach has been gaining progressively greater importance than the equivalent circuit method in solution nonlinearity, anisotropy characteristics and motion analysis, etc. In this paper, the phase asymmetrical d-q circuit constants are calculated by the lock test, the equivalent no-loaded test and the circuit equations. Formulae and control algorithm approximated to LIM are unfolded. The dynamic characteristic analysis method of vector controlled LIM using coupled FEM and control algorithm taking into account the movement is proposed. In FE region instead of the voltage equation, the inner primary winding can be embodied on the form of the search coil that calculates the primary flux linkage directly. To prove the propriety of the proposed method, the DSP installed experimental devices are equipped and the experiment is performed.
