This study employs contemporary software development methodologies to facilitate the assisted reading and translation of Chinese architectural classics. The proposed workflow integrates several key technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) large language models (LLMs), integrated development environments (IDEs), programming languages, and the Git version control system for collaborative development. The primary objective is to establish a comprehensive workflow that enhances the readability and accessibility of these classics by producing three distinct translations tailored to specific audiences: Chinese-fluent professionals, Chinese-fluent non-professionals, and a general English-speaking audience. Selecting Yingzao Fashi as its case study, this research positions AI as a generative partner for interpreting classical architectural texts. It thereby explores the potential for computational approaches to contribute to the broader ambition of re-originating Chinese design theory for the digital age.
