Identifying what the major stressors are for critical care nurses has been a well-debated and researched question because of the extensive and expensive impact of stress on the critical care nurse. These investigators go beyond others to compare stressors between critical care nurses and medical-surgical nurses and between present and past critical care nurses. The changes in stress caused by management issues is most surprising.
