Summary Ninety Ss from kindergarten, and first and second grades were given conservation of length, substance, and weight tasks with continuous and discontinuous quantities in which the discontinuous quantities were distributed along a particle size continuum. No significant differences were found in conservation between continuous or discontinuous materials. However, the usual significant differences of the horizontal décalage appeared in performance across ages and across conservation tasks.
