The Mediterranean-style diet has been associated with a reduced risk of cardiovascular events as well as all-cause mortality among individuals with and without cardiovascular diseases (CVD). ] An elevated visit-to-visit BPV also significantly predicts all-cause and cardiovascular mortality, independent of average BP control. 9,10 Factors that have been noted to be associated with an increased visit-to-visit BPV include an increased arterial stiffness, poor compliance or improper titration of anti-hypertensive medications, as well as seasonal variations in BP. In this study, we sought to investigate whether a Mediterranean-style diet among patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) is associated with a reduced BPV as well as the subsequent risk of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) and all-cause mortality.
