This paper addresses the Internet of Behavior. As an extension of the already prevalent Internet of Things, the technology is used to analyze, predict and influence behavioral trends of consumers in order to manifest a fixed business outcome through analysis of data that is collected using tracking and identification technologies, wired and wireless sensor networks and so on. As such, IoB combines aspects of behavioral analysis, electronics, data analysis, and computational intelligence. Hence, this survey stands to aid those who wish to understand IoB and its nuances and contribute to its development. A survey of the current state of IoB technology is presented along with a delineation of the evolution of IoB from existing IoT technologies. In addition to identifying several application scenarios, it focuses on challenges and open issues that the technology faces which risk the possibility of its wide-spread adoption. The technology is studied from a research perspective and possible research directions are also explored.
