Synthesis reveals dual luminescence in polynuclear gold(I) sulfido complexes, suggesting potential optical applications.
A series of decanuclear gold(I) μ 3 ‐sulfido clusters with different diphosphinoamine ligands, [Au 10 ( μ ‐Ph 2 PN(R)PPh 2 ) 4 ( μ 3 ‐S) 4 ](PF 6 ) 2 (R = C 6 H 4 C 6 H 5 ( 1 ), anthryl ( 2 ), and (CH 2 ) 3 SCH 3 ( 3 )), has been synthesized and characterized. The X‐ray crystal analysis of complex 1 has revealed a propeller‐like structure of the gold(I) μ 3 ‐sulfido complexes with short Au(I)···Au(I) distances of 3.013–3.397 Å. The complexes have been found to show dual luminescence in the green and orange‐red region. Their UV–vis absorption and emission properties have also been studied.
