The Archaeological horizon of the Acheulian site of Berekhat Ram is bedded in between two basalt flows. The upper flow is dated (40 Ar/39 Ar) to 233,000 ± 3,000, and the lower one to ca. 800,000 years ago. The lithic assemblage is comprized of varied tool types: bifaces, scrapers, notches, denticulates as well as end scrapers and burins in relatively high frequencies. Technologically the assemblage is typified by the discoidal and the Levallois techniques. The geological history of the site is highly complex, and proves that the site was formed before the creation of the Berekhat Ram crater lake. The chrono-stratigraphical data combined with the results obtained through the lithic analyses contribute further information towards a better understanding of Pleistocene cultural deposits in the Levant.
