Demonstrates effective hydrogen production using a new catalyst in electrolysis, suggesting industrial application potential.
In this paper, a cost-effective strategy for hydrogen production via anion exchange membrane (AEM) water electrolysis using nonprecious NiMo bimetallic catalysts is proposed. A homogeneously dispersed NiMo precursor was deposited in situ on nickel felt (NF) and converted by hydrogen reduction into a hierarchical Ni@MoOC/CN/NF electrode with a nanofilament core−shell structure and high surface area. The electrode exhibits excellent hydrogen evolution (HER) activity in AEM water electrolysis, achieving overpotentials of 35 and 140 mV at 10 and 1000mA·cm−2, respectively, and demonstrates outstanding stability, operating for 500 h at 500 mA·cm−2 with negligible decay. This scalable in situ growth approach offers a practical route for fabricating high-performance HER electrodes for industrial AEM electrolysis applications.
