In this article, we present teachers with a comprehensive classroom management system that fosters the development of academic and behavioral goals in all students in elementary schools. A 3-pronged approach is advocated and includes (1) antecedent control techniques to prevent or minimize disruption, (2) consequent control techniques to reinforce or increase appropriate behavior, and (3) consequences to punish or decrease inappropriate behavior. For each area, empirically based techniques suitable for use in elementary classrooms are identified and described.
