Studies of AgIn and CuGe Alloys by Optical and Photoemission Techniques

The electronic structure of Ag 87 In 13 and Cu 94 Ge 6 has been investigated by measuring the optical absorption and photoelectron energy distributions. The effect of screening on alloying was observed as a lowering of the conduction band. The optical transition across the conduction band gap at the L point is identified and discussed.
