Does prolonged R wave peak time (RWPT) on pre-procedural ECG predict high thrombus burden in patients with STEMI?
Answers are grounded in this paper and cite their sources.
Prolonged R wave peak time (>46.5 ms) on pre-procedural ECG is an independent predictor of high angiographic thrombus burden in patients presenting with STEMI.
UNASSIGNED: The present study evaluated the relationship between the RWPT and thrombus burden in STEMI patients. Based on the results, RWPT is an independent predictor of HTB.

Güven-Çetin et al. (2023) conducted a cohort in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) (n=159). R wave peak time (RWPT) vs. Low thrombus burden was evaluated on High thrombus burden (TIMI 4-5) (AUC 0.682, 95% CI 0.590-0.774, p=<0.001). Preprocedural R wave peak time > 46.5 ms predicted the occurrence of high thrombus burden in STEMI patients with a sensitivity of 87.62% and specificity of 51.85%.
