An inversion method for three dimensional (3D) electrical imaging in media with an inhomogeneous and anisotropic conductivity distribution was presented. The conductivity distribution was discretized via finite elements and was described by a second-order tensor at each finite element node. The method was tested using computer-generated data from two and three dimensional synthetic models.
