This article presents the Centralized Synchronous Learning (CSL) Model, an instructional framework developed to integrate required, faculty-led live sessions into asynchronous online courses. Designed at a fully online university, the model centralizes synchronous instruction across course sections to ensure consistency, efficiency, and equitable access for diverse learners. By directly linking live sessions to course assessments and learning outcomes, CSL promotes real-time facilitation, targeted feedback, and active learning within flexible asynchronous structures. The model’s implementation across general education courses demonstrates how centralized scheduling, standardized communication, and cross-disciplinary coordination can enhance student engagement, comprehension, and persistence. Faculty feedback highlights improved instructional consistency and professional collaboration, while institutional analysis reveals greater participation and cost efficiency compared to optional session formats. The article outlines the model’s theoretical grounding, structural components, and observed impacts on both student learning and faculty experience. Findings suggest that the CSL framework provides a scalable, evidence-informed approach for improving instructional quality, student success, and institutional sustainability in online higher education.
