Randomized trial shows decision-support tool enhances treatment retention and symptom improvement in depression.
A decision‐support tool for antidepressant treatment that considers demographic, clinical, and patient preference factors was more effective than usual care in retaining patients in treatment at 8 weeks, a randomized trial has found. Individuals whose antidepressant choice was based on application of the PETRUSHKA (Personalizing Antidepressant Treatment for Unipolar Depression Combining Individual Choices, Risks and Big Data) tool also saw greater improvement in symptoms of depression and anxiety at 24 weeks.
