This is a dataset of files related to 5 stories designed in the textual and visual form of zines. They were composed by Niv using parts of 4 pseudonymised transcripts of oral history accounts, along with one generalised reinterpretation reflective of experiences across a number of the oral history narratives. These were produced as research data for a wider project on marginality in the Indian academy, selected by the project leads, and shared for creative interpretation. This dataset has been uploaded to the open science repository (‘Zenodo’) where a digital object identifier (DOI) has been registered. The dataset includes: 1. This file titled ‘Read me’ which provides a description of the project, a basic description of each zine, the project’s methodology and authorial attributions, following FAIR principles of open science data management. 2. A file titled ‘Text from the zines in the dataset’, which includes the basic textual information in each of the zines. 3. The file format of the zines have been saved in three folders in different formats for prosperity – jpg, .tiff and Adobe Pdf. The text files have been saved as word, rtf, pdf.
