In order to create a ‘learning society’, we must come to understand that all episodes of teaching’ and ‘learning’ have commonalities. In crder to apply the universality of teaching and learning, we must come to understand that a curriculum exists, either explicitly or implicitly whenever teaching and learning occur. The same e ements that occur in the relationship between classroom teacher and classroom student also occuc in any teaching/learning relationship such as between a company executive and his or her managers, between a doctor and a patient, between a parent and a child, between a coach and a player. The concept of ‘a Model of Educational Processes’ provides a critical perspective on the notion of teaching and as it is found in many contexts, within and outside schooling. This schema clarifies the concept of’ life‐long learning’ in that it provides a mechanism which can be used in the many learning contexts which complement formal education.
