Population-based survey analysis reveals causal pathways between hypertension, comorbid conditions, and chronic lung disease in older adults, highlighting cumulative multi-disease risks.
To estimate the risk of disease, odds ratio is calculated.Odds ratio and relative risk will measure the risk but not causal relation of risk factors. In this research study an attempt is made to establish causal relation between chronic lung disease and modifiable risk factors and behavioural risk factors by applying Path analysis.Data were collected from a household representative sample survey called Longitudinal ageing survey of India (LASI).For the present analysis 65531 elderly aged 45 and above considered.Initially to test the association between risk factors and Chronic lung disease, chi-square test is applied.By applying Hierarchical log-linear regression model with backward selection procedure suitable significant regression models are selected. From these regression models, structural equations developed and Path models for modifiable and modifiable with behavioural risk factors have been drawn.By applying logit regression path coefficients estimated. Results revealed that hypertension influences chronic lung disease directly and indirectly through diabetes and heart disease.Risk of lung disease increases to 41.58 with Alcohol, Hypertension, Diabetes and heart disease.
