This article examines a projective questionnaire technique for quantitative cross-cultural training needs assessment of expatriates. Training to facilitate expatriates' adjustment to their work is essential for a successful assignment, but it is rarely offered. Based on a sample of Swedish expatriates and their Hong Kong middle managers, this study demonstrates how the needs assessment can guide the design of appropriate cross-cultural training programs. © 2000 by Jossey-Bass, A Publishing Unit of John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
