HOPKINS, KENNETH D., and BIBELHEIMER, MILO. Five-Year Stability of Intelligence Quotients from Language and Nonlanguage Group Tests. CHILD DEVELOPMENT, 1971, 42, 645-649. IQ scores were obtained on 354 students who had been tested with the language and nonlanguage sections of the California Test of Mental Maturity in grades 3, 5, 7, and 8. There was much less IQ stability, especially on the nonlanguage tests, than has been reported from previous surveys which have been based primarily on individual tests-the 5-year stability coeficients were .53 and .43 for the language and nonlanguage IQs, respectively.
